Hyde Park, Perth

4.5
#4 of 26 in Parks in Perth
Enjoy the shaded pathways of Hyde Park, where you can jog, rollerblade, bike, picnic, or simply enjoy a few quiet moments with a good book and a cup of coffee. European settlers turned this swampy zone into a public park in 1897, creating an urban green space that still plays an important social and ecological role. The park hosts frequent music festivals and live performances, and is a popular venue for weddings and family photographs. Also notable for its mature trees, the area is lined with figs, pines, jacarandas, cedars, and several indigenous eucalyptuses, some of which are over a century old. Two lakes located within the park attract a wide variety of birdlife, which includes ducks, coots, pelicans, and swans. To visit Hyde Park on your trip to Perth, use our Perth trip planner.

  • In October and November the jacaranda trees are in bloom. A stunning display of purple blossom. For fitness addicts there are posts recommending various exercises  more »
  • Like Sydney's Hyde Park, Perth's Hyde Park is also very beautiful, with its gardens, trees and tranquillity to stroll around. I always recommend cleçados and comfortable clothes for this outdoor attraction.

  • A picturesque park all year round and very central. It's a great place for outings with kids and bring your dog as well. Very dog friendly. The lake plays a vital part of the local wildlife. During autumn it's even more beautiful with the yellow brown leaves. It is a great place for photo shoot for weddings for instance. Plenty of street parking around. Plus just a short stroll to local coffee shops.
  • An old favorite. Hyde Park is beautiful in every season. Summer for its water park for kids and great playground, the wildlife that live there and visit. The autumn time for the changing leaves and spring for its burst of beautiful colour. Great parking facilities and a couple of coffee shops/bakeries just across the road. You can also stroll to Sayers Sister or info Northbridge super easy!
