Ascend to the top of Monserrate, which towers over Bogota. From the summit--3,152 m (10,341 ft) above sea level--enjoy panoramic views of the city and the surrounding landscape. A 17th-century church perches atop the mountain, dedicated to El Señor Caído (The Fallen Lord), a name derived from a statue depicting Jesus after he was removed from the cross. Christians have used the site of the church as a place of worship since the 1620s, and it remains a popular destination for pilgrims. Nearby, various restaurants, cafes, and souvenir shops provide refreshments and shopping for religious visitors and tourists alike. Get to the top by cable car or funicular, or join those on pilgrimage and make the tough trek on foot. Be wary of overexerting yourself on the mountain, as the high altitude can have adverse effects. • Beautiful views, the ride up was fantastic, there are places to exercise, places to worship, places to take selfies and places to grab a bite to eat or even a souvenir. The only thing I'd advise is wear comfortable shoes, the lines are LONG not only to buy tickets, but to get on the ride up and ESPECIALLY the ride back down.
  • The absolute most spectacular view of Bogotá with a beautiful church at the top with lush vegetation throughout.
