Create an itinerary including Museo de Antioquia
Trace the evolution of art in Colombia from pre-colonial times to the present day at Museo de Antioquia. Placing a strong emphasis on local works, the museum houses a range of pieces by Medellin duo Pedro Nel Gomez and Fernando Botero, with more than 200 of the latter's distinctive works on displays. Don't miss Botero's almost comically misshapen sculptures and paintings, in which the artist purposely exaggerated the curves of the body to create grotesque "fat" figures. Compare Botero's works to other Colombian artists on display and ponder what statements he might be making. • Lots of Botero’s artwork but also from other Colombian artists. The 3 story building is also very beautiful. Price of admission is very decent

  • What a great display of paintings and sculptures made by Botero. One can find unique paintings, and surrounding the museum (outside) there are a lot of bronce sculptures. Unfortunately inside the museum, they don't allowed to take pictures.
  • Must visit while in Medellín. Most descriptions are in Spanish and when we went they didn't have English speaker guides. My Spanish is intermediate level but I still enjoyed the exhibits tremendously. Give this place at least 2-3 hours and make sure to go to the top floor for Botero insanity. Highly recommend.
