Must see · Nature / Park · Wildlife Area
Explore the dunes and rock formations at Desierto de la Tatacoa, a tranquil semi-arid desert away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities. Named after the sound a rattlesnake makes (even though there are none in the area), the desert has a large, dry, tropical ecosystem. Roam among the tall cactus plants and spot numerous wildlife species such as scorpions, turtles, eagles, and wildcats. Favorite activities here include camping, picnicking, or just enjoying the unusual landscape. Visit the observatory to view the stars and planets through a telescope, or stargaze on your own. • Beautiful place with a lot of sightseeing. Excellent area to walk, take pictures and explore. If possible try to get a hotel in the desert itself.
