  • Famous for his compressions, the sculptor César is also a fan of the recovery of industrial pieces that he assembles to make works of art. This centaur is a good example, successful from my point of view. It exudes exceptional strength.

  • In 1983, Culture Minister Jack Lang relaunched the Picasso Museum director's idea of paying tribute to the great Malaga artist who died in 1973. It is César Baldacini, (author of the Cesar statuettes that award French cinema) who finally made the sculpture in bronze and 5 meters high: A mythological figure, The Centaur: Half Man, Half Animal. The head is a self-portrait of the author although the face is reminiscent of Pablo Picasso. Originally it was intended to be installed in the square June 18, but the Montparnasse tower would have dwarfed the sculpture, so it was erected in its current enclave.
