The Théâtre de l'Œuvre is a Paris theatre, located atop cité Monthiers, at 55 rue de Clichy in the 9° arrondissement in Paris, France. It is best known as the theatre where Alfred Jarry’s nihilistic farce Ubu Roi premiered in 1896.

Founded in Paris in 1893, the Théâtre de l'Œuvre was among the first theatrical venues in France to provide a home for the artists of the Symbolist Movement at the end of the nineteenth century. Modeled on the experimental structure of the Théâtre Libre, the venue was directed by Lugné-Poe, a prominent Parisian actor and stage manager from its opening through 1929.

  • Honestly ? DISGUSTED ! I bought a ticket 23 EUR in the "Kiosque La Madeleine" today After my Meal at the "Restaurant Associatif" Eglise de la Madeleine. Precisely I came back to Paris to check whether things changed, i.e. Stupid Games with the Law and My Rights ! The Answer is NO ! Nothing ever changes in Paris, EVEN JUSTICE BECOMES A PLAY FOR SO CALLED 'ARTISTS"! (That includes Pärisian "Lawyers" appointed by the "Total Judicial Aid" since December 2013 and also even "Judges" who are "allowed' (by whom ?) to say one thing at the Tribunal and write the opposite, and take "Appartments" from people who really need housing. I AM A QUALIFIED FRENCH AND INTERTATIONAL IN-HOUSE LEGAL COUNSEL AND HOMELESS SINCE JUNE 13 2013 ! Due to Transport Constraints - Snow Storm, No Personal Car, No Honest Dealing With My Legal Rights etc etc - I arrived at 9:08 p.m. instead of 9 p.m. I kindly explained that having No Eye Glasses yet (in France since 1985 !!!) I would be in difficulty to understand This Play (on Nerves !) should My Place be not close enough. A quite agressive young woman holding HER cigaret ... started to comment on the fact that "I should not disturb "The Artists" and should accept the place - far away from their scene !!! - I am offered. I kindly asked to exchange my purchase for 23 EUR for another place for Tomorrow, but she criticised me even more for being "so late". Finally I left this "Ticket" in pieces at this stupid theater. 23 EUR to understand they are "Vampire Artists". Real Justice is certainly NOT THERE !.
