Get a taste of everyday life in Georgetown at Stabroek Market, one of the busiest places in the city. Locals come here every day, either selling items to make a living or buying items for their household. Built in 1808, the market ranks among the city's oldest buildings still in use. The predominantly red and white structure features a clock tower reminiscent of the Victorian British style of architecture. At this expansive market (one of the country's largest) you can shop for fresh fruits and vegetables, fish and meats, clothing, and confectionary items. • This is the biggest market in Guyana, but it has been so very poorly maintained for the past so many years that it has always been a major struggle to visit there for normal trouble free...

  • There's a little bit of everything sold here, inside and outside with more local vendors. Very busy in the daytime. Outside and surrounding area gets a lot of people. With cars having to squeeze thru tight lanes and foot traffic it can get crazy. If you're not familiar with this area, its best not to come alone.
  • With a little love and some cleaning this market would be wonderful! I highly recommend you go with a local. I do not recommend going alone.
