Art Gallery · Museum
A fair-trade business, Threads of Life works to alleviate poverty in the rural areas of Indonesia. The shop commissions handicrafts from the local people--items are made with native materials and natural dyes. Proceeds go to the region's weavers, who have a chance to establish independent coops, manage their resources, and make a living in a sustainable way. • We bought some unusual items on a trip to Flores Island when we were there in 2012...one was a ceremonial piece from Sumba that they had only seen one other time...They had some nice weavings there...  more »
  • Beautiful indigo art and batik but very expensive! I understand that it is not mass production but I feel that the prices are outrageous.Friendly and lovely staff and worth a visit to enjoy!  more »

  • Beautiful presentation of traditional fabrics of various places in Indonesia. Relatively expensive but totally makes sense. For a napkin dip dyed in natural color IDR 95k
  • Don’t make the mistake we did and think you’ll find similar quality at lower prices elsewhere. We explore most of Bali and couldn’t find anything as good (and clearly as ethical) as this.
