Made famous by writer James Joyce, St Stephens Green has been Dublin's favorite picnic spot for over a century. Opened in 1880, the park is adjacent to one of the city's major shopping streets, drawing equal numbers of nature lovers and shoppers in need of a place to rest. The largest of Dublin's Georgian gardens, this 9 hectare (22 acre) urban park once provided a marshy setting for public whippings and executions. Today, the elegantly landscaped garden features Georgian buildings and statues of some of Ireland's most celebrated figures, including Arthur Guinness, Robert Emmet, and W.B. Yeats. Located in the heart of Dublin, the park is accessible by tram from almost anywhere in the city. Find out how to plan Dublin trip without stress by asking Inspirock to help create an itinerary.

Pulmón verde de la ciudad de Dublín, una maravilla de parque muy concurrido por los lugareños a pasear y pasar la tarde Sumamente cuidado y muy bien mantenido, es una preciosidad pasear por sus sender... more »Green Lung of Dublin city, a wonder of park very crowded by the locals for a walk and spend the afternoon extremely careful and very well maintained, it is a lovely walk along its trails
I grew up visiting my Granny who lived right by "the Green" - every week my siblings and I would run and play in the park, feed the ducks, search for chestnuts, and sometimes head over to the kids playground. There is something beautiful about the fact that it hasn't changed a bit since then. The flower bed arrangements are still beautiful, its kept in pristine condition and it remains a lovely, peaceful respite in an ever growing, ever changing city. Definitely worth a stroll through should you be in the area.
An oasis of calm in the heart of the city's South side. You should not miss the chance to stroll through this park, or just sit & watch the world go by. Surrounded by world renowned galleries & museums, all within walking distance, St.Stephens Green has a colourful history all of its own.
