I Giardini di Castel Trauttmansdorff
Begun about 1850, I Giardini di Castel Trauttmansdorff contains about 80 different gardens of local and exotic plants, which are organized by region of origin. You can explore areas populated by coniferous and deciduous trees from the Americas, sun gardens of cultivated plants typical in the Mediterranean, terraced gardens designed in the formal English manner, and huge sections covered by flowering oleanders and ancient olive trees. The site also contains an aviary, a Japanese alluvial forest, rice terraces, and a tea plantation. The gardens not only shelter colorful plants from around the globe, but also offer panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and the popular spa resort town of Merano. Daily guided tours are available, with no pre-booking required. Check online for opening hours and all upcoming special events and activities. For travelers who use our custom trip planner, Merano holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the I Giardini di Castel Trauttmansdorff and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

This is a MUST VISIT for nature and landscape lovers! If you love places like this you will be able to spend a minimum of 3 hours here. There are so many hidden spots and sights! It is beautiful and so good for the soul. There is also a restaurant and a cafe - I didn't try anything there but the coffee at the cafe smelled amazing. Regarding restrooms - they are located all over the gardens so no need to worry about that.

Beautifully laid out gardens with an abundance of plants, explanations, outlook platforms and interactive experiences to immerse yourself. It won many awards and you can see why.
