Create an itinerary including Iglesia de La Merced
Pay a visit to Iglesia de La Merced, a historic site of Catholic pilgrimage. Originally built in 1539, the church was razed by pirates in the mid 17th century and rebuilt with its current Baroque facade in the 1780s. Restored with an ornate interior in the 1860s, the church today contains an image of the Virgen de Fatima, a sacred object that draws many pilgrims. Climb up the bell tower that flanks the church to gain extensive views of the city and beyond, including many major urban and natural attractions. • Worthwhile to see interior--peaceful and serene. And I had the good fortune to come when a talented singer was practicing for an upcoming service. They advertise the best city view that you access.....  more

  • I mean, come on...it's not the Eiffel Tower, but it is a magical place. The view of Granada from the top is absolutely breathtaking. The day we went it was not too crowded, so it made things much easier. This was part of our trip and I am so glad we got to experience it! The staff we encountered were extremely helpful and kind. You can tell they enjoy what they do. We walked here (which has quite narrow stairs, so getting here was well worth the effort! We will definitely be back......someday.
