Cool off at Ojo de Agua, a natural spring. Dip into the clear, cool water, brought to the spring by an underground river that has been purified by the nearby volcano. The soft, mineralized water offers an inviting moment of respite from the heat of the area, and gets constantly renewed and replenished by the spring. Separated into two main pools, the springs have seen an upswing in popularity with locals and tourists alike, drawing significant crowds on weekends and holidays. Sit on one of the deck chairs and relax under the shade of the umbrellas, treating yourself to some fresh coconut from the onsite vendors. Put Ojo de Agua at the forefront of your travel plans using our Isla de Ometepe road trip site.

  • Arrived about 11am and there only a few people there. Nice and chilled. Good place to cool off during a cycle. Don’t forget the sunscreen, The Nicaraguan sun burns!

  • One of the most magical places in Nicaragua is the natural waterhole Ojo de Agua on Ometepe Island. This place has a beautiful setting, with plenty of straw covered cabanas to sit under and hammocks.....  more

  • An amazing place to spend half a day. Recommended to go early as it gets very busy with locals. The water is stunning and a great temperature for swimming on a hot day. It's $3 entry still which is great. If you walk up the hill there is a good viewpoint and howler monkeys. The trails aren't well marked however.
  • Great place to spend a couple of hours! Entrance was 5$ per person, and if you come in the morning 8am you probably be one of the only one there and that without any bugs! And don’t forget to grab a fresh coconut, with or without the rum 🍹
