Apoyo spreads out over a diameter of 6.6 km (4.1 mi) inside the crater of an extinct volcano, which is claimed to house the cleanest lake water in Central America. Near the resort you'll find jumping platforms, kayak and board rentals, as well as spots to eat and drink. If you opt for a hike, you'll notice the surrounding nature is dense and packed with animal and plant life, such as anteaters, common boas, iguanas, and orchids.
