Spa area is top notch. Staff was amazing and helpful. The restaurant was a bit more shaky. Staff here has zero joy which reflects in their work. Food was okay, but not memorable. For these prices, we expected a bit more flavours. Our room was quite chilly and the mattress a bit too soft for our taste but in overall we had fun. Once a year it's a great gateway. Most probably we will be back, but only to the wellness area. 😎

I recently visited for the first time and had a great time overall, with a few minor annoyances; if I could, I'd rate it 4.5 stars. Before I went, I searched for reviews about how they treated plus-sized guests, as my husband and I are both fat, and I couldn't find anything. So, I'm going to focus on that aspect; hopefully this review is helpful for others in that position! As their website explains, nudity is mandatory in the saunas (except on Tuesdays) and optional in the pools—but if you want to wear a swimsuit, you have to wear one that they sell there. Being a somewhat body-shy American, I had hoped to wear a swimsuit, but I was concerned about them having a size that fit me. So, I brought my own black swimsuit as a backup. The women's sizes go to "4X," and the men's sizes go to 3X. My husband was comfortable in his trunks (which are tight but stretchy). However, I have a long torso, and even though I am normally a 3X, the 4X swimsuit simply wasn't big enough for me; I would have been spilling out of the top. When I explained the situation at the spa reception, they said that it would be fine to wear my own swimsuit, and they gave me a special wristband so the staff would know it was okay. (Ironically, the wristband was a little tight.) FYI, if you have to bring your own suit, they prefer that you bring something in dark, neutral colors. They provide bathrobes in sizes from XS-XXL (the XXL is labeled inside as "2XL/3XL), and I found the "XXL" a little snug. It was fine, but someone larger than me (4X and up) would have trouble covering up fully with the bathrobe. Not a big problem, but something to be aware of. Other than the clothing issues, though, my size was never a problem. There were several other large-sized people there, so I didn't feel alone, and I never felt judged by visitors or staff. (I actually ended up deciding to forgo my bathing suit on the second day, because the ambient nudity was so comfortable.) The chairs were all big enough, and there was an elevator between the spa floors for my husband, who normally uses a cane. The bed was comfortable for the two of us (though note that it's a European king, which translates to an American queen). Minor peeves: The indoor spa area was kept at a warm temperature, warm enough that my husband and I were sweating when we tried to sit and read/crochet. The Brasseriet service was inconsistent, with some great, attentive waitstaff, but some who were less than helpful. Food is good quality, but more expensive than I'm used to, even for Oslo food prices. All that said, my overall experience was extremely good. The pools are fabulous, the showers are wonderful (especially the waterfall cave, which was our favorite!), and the saunas are peaceful and rejuvenating. The overall atmosphere is peaceful, restful, and positive. We hope to come back soon!
