Fort San Pedro, Cebu City

3.6
A triangular stone block fortress with an impressive wooden gate, Fort San Pedro guards the entrance to Cebu with two of its sides facing the sea. Dating from the mid-16th century (with the present-day structure built in 1738), the fort remains the oldest and smallest stronghold in the Philippines. Explore the Virgin's Well and cannons on display in the palm-dotted courtyard, and climb up the three stone watchtowers overlooking the sea and the streets. A museum within the walls exhibits old photographs and sketches of the fort, and documents show its shape in the past and the founding of Cebu. • This has served as a mighty fortress in the past. It carries many stories with old photos and artifacts. The area is wide so you can freely walk around. It has minimal entrance fees. Surely you will....  more »
  • Very small. Information provided is interesting, but I didn't find it that fascinating. Maybe I spoiled myself in Europe, but this was the least impressive of the kind I've been too.  more »

  • It's quite small than I expected but there are spots where it tells you about the history of the place, and I find those very fascinating. Despite being a bit small, it still offers several picturesque spots. That is if you could ignore the people in the background.
  • Want to dig up some history and culture of Cebu? This is one of the remains of the Spanish regime in the Philippines. It sits in the strategic location during those times. Also, for your information, below this historical place is the Cebu's first underpass (operational, connecting the South Road Properties). The place is quite and peaceful. You can also book wedding receptions here. Enjoy more!
