Rasnov Citadel
Rasnov Citadel, also known as the "fortress of fear," attracts ghost hunters because of its infamous well and the recent discoveries of human bones in the castle's basement. A group of knights from the Teutonic Order built the intimidating fortress, which later served as a refuge for peasants during foreign invasions in 1215. Learn the legend of the well built by two Turkish prisoners who were promised their freedom upon completing the task and then were betrayed. A feudal museum exhibits old weaponry, tools, stamps, and traditional dress. Look for a skeleton buried underneath a glass floor. You can also try archery at the castle, or rest in one of several cafes and restaurants. It couldn't be easier to arrange your visit to Rasnov Citadel and many more Rasnov attractions: make an itinerary online using Inspirock's Rasnov trip maker.

Nice castle to visit, but currently closed due to restoration after a fire. So you can only see the outside abd walk a little bit around towards the cable car. Anyway worth a visit.

A rather well-preserved peasant fortress. If you are in the area, you definitely should climb up the hill to visit it. Pros: the landscape, which is splendid, the walls and towers of the fortress, and the clean air. Cons: First of all, you should know that the fortress is closed for renovation, and it seems that the works will only be finished in 2023. The employees of the local administration say nothing about the fact that the citadel is closed, so many tourists end up paying for transport and/or a parking place just for a walk around the walls. The citadel is interesting enough but not quite as awe inspiring as described by some Romanians who love their country. If you are familiar with the monumental constructions in England, France, Spain, etc., this fortress might not impress you. Most of the shops in the citadel sell counterfeit products presented as genuine local products.
