Bras Bash Complex was completed in 1980. In the early 1980s, Bras Basah Complex hosted small-scale Xinyao recitals and performance which were immensely popular and drew large crowds. During its peak, there was an event taking place almost every Saturday at the complex. There were also other arts and culture-related activities such as book fairs and art exhibitions which helped to attract customers.

Bras Bash Complex certainly flourished in its early years. Book collectors, students and bargain hunters looking for second-hand books to save a bit - all of them knew that Bras Basah Complex was the place to go to.

  • There is a very good noodle shop in the Coffee Express food court. He has meatball, teochew dumplings, and fish balls on offer. Fish balls are very bouncy and the noodles are very al dente.  more »

  • Great place if you are looking to print materials like texts, booklets or cards. They have many businesses offering good service with reasonable prices. My go-to shop for printing is BBC Image on the ground floor
  • My work office in the vicinity, so I go often maybe twice a week, it's a good hawker. With a good selection of foods. The famous one which usually has a long queue is the mince meat noodle store. If you like soup go for no5 else no1 is good. The Yong Tau Fu store, is also quite popular, the laksa gravy is light and creamy.
