About Ruqxana: Believe it or not, Ruqxana Vasanwala was an engineer for 14 years before she heeded the call. Ruqxana is now pursuing her lifelong passion for cooking, and finding joy in imparting the secrets of her mouth-watering fare to willing students everywhere. A self-taught cook, she started cooking at the age of 7 and has not stopped since. For more than 30 years, she has been entertaining family members and friends with her culinary skills from all corners of the world - Indian, Chinese, Malay, Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese, European, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, African, American and a lot more. She also loves to bake and makes wonderful cakes, cookies, pastries and desserts. She has a diploma in Cake Decorating, Chocolate Art, Fondant, Gum Paste and Pulled Sugar from the famous Wilton School in the USA. Her love of travel ensures that she continually learns new recipes from the world over. Besides teaching out of her home, she is also in demand as a teacher at a Cooking Academy, a Museum (where she conducts regular children and family cooking classes), a Polytechnic, Business Corporations and Bookstores in Singapore. She now has quite a following of people from overseas, some who come straight from the Airport with luggage in tow, to do her cooking class even before checking into their Hotel!By using our Singapore trip planning tool, you can arrange your visit to Cookery Magic and other attractions in Singapore.

Cookery Magic Reviews

We had an amazing time with Ruqxana at her house. She is a fantastic teacher and taught us not just about the food we were cooking, but also a lot of other things about Singapore. We did a couple of.... more »
An absolutely wonderful experience. The other 5 star reviews go into enough detail so I won't harp on, but our menu of Nonya Fried Rice, Otak Otak and Beef Rendang was absolutely delicious. And much more importantly, Ruqxana was absolutely lovely and a fantastic teacher. One of my friends didn't like fish, and we hadn't had time to tell her before we arrived, but she somehow still managed to replace two of the three dishes for him. If you want to do some Singaporean cooking, seriously look no further. This place is amazing.
Have already been 3 times to Ruqxana's Class at Cookery magic. And I'll certainly come back again. First of all you don't feel you're hiring a class in some sort of cold school where you are just one more because Ruqxana receives her guests in her own beautiful suburban house and she gives a very personal and kind attention to every student. Everything feels and tastes very homely. Besides this I think that as time passes her hand is getting even better than before. Excellent class. Delicious food!
