Create an itinerary including El Torcal de Antequera
El Torcal de Antequera offers impressive views of an expansive stretch of dramatic natural rock formations. Limestone from the Jurassic era remained here after the prehistoric sea dried up. The formations left behind now have names: the Sphinx, the Jug, the Camel, the Screw, and more. Keep an eye out for wild roses; orchids, of which there are 30 varieties in the park; and wildlife, such as the Andalusian mountain goat. Scenic viewpoints are accessible from all the hiking trails. As long as it’s not one of the busier weekends of the year, you can take your car all the way to the upper visitors’ center. • There are some years since I visited this strange and beautiful place. You feel like on another planet. We got the change to visit it after a late spring rain and all the vegetation looked so fresh and sparkling. You cannot stop thinking that this place is just 40 km away from the sea. It is like from the see you get to the mountain side.
  • Am amazing place to visit. Visitor centre, free car park. Two routes to choose from if you want to walk thro amongst the amazing looking rocks. A bit on the rugged side for walking. We visited twice. I imagine the car park can be very full at weekends and the summer. It was very full in March.
