Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Tokyo Disneyland. Step off the beaten path and head to Hokokuji Temple (Takedera Temple) and Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. Ueno District and Odaiba District are good opportunities to explore the local culture. When in Tokyo, make a side trip to see Kencho-ji Temple in Kamakura, approximately Kamakura away.

Sydney, Australia to Tokyo is an approximately 13.5-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 1 hour traveling from Sydney to Tokyo. Traveling from Sydney in September, expect Tokyo to be somewhat warmer, temps between 32°C and 24°C. On the 27th (Sun), you're off to Nagano.

Near the confluence of the Chikuma and Sai rivers, Nagano combines historic sites with nearby forested alps dotted with shrines.

You can take a train from Tokyo to Nagano in 2.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a bus. Prepare for a bit cooler weather when traveling from Tokyo in September: high temperatures in Nagano hover around 28°C and lows are around 20°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 29th (Tue) early enough to catch the train to Kyoto.

Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Nijo Castle. Your inner history buff will appreciate Koyasan Okunoin and Nigatsu-do Temple. Explore Kyoto's surroundings by going to Dotombori District (in Dotombori), Ise (Ise Shrine Geku & Sengukan) and Nara (Toshodai-ji Temple & Nara Park). Traveling by train from Nagano to Kyoto takes 4 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of train, subway, and flight. Traveling from Nagano in September, expect nights in Kyoto to be about the same, around 23°C, while days are somewhat warmer, around 33°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 3rd (Sat) early enough to take a train to Hiroshima.
