Unvanquished City

Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Discover out-of-the-way places like Palacio da Bolsa and Parque Biologico de Gaia. Popular historic sites such as Rua das Flores and Padrao do Salado are in your itinerary. Change things up with these side-trips from Porto: Praia do Furadouro (in Ovar), Castelo de Santa Maria da Feira (in Santa Maria da Feira) and Falua Massage Studio (in Povoa de Varzim). There's still lots to do: examine the collection at FC Porto Museum, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Consolacao e Santos Passos, enjoy the sand and surf at Praia da Baia, and look for all kinds of wild species at Parque de Avioso - S. Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Get outdoors at Speed Boats Tours and Praia de Carcavelos. Do your shopping at Rua Augusta and Rossio Square. When in Lisbon, make a side trip to see Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra, approximately Sintra away. There's much more to do: contemplate the long history of Castelo de S. Traveling from Nazare in August, you will find days in Lisbon are a bit warmer (35°C), and nights are about the same (20°C). Cap off your sightseeing on the 10th (Tue) early enough to go by car to Portimao.

Originally a small fishing village, Portimão today serves as one of the most populated towns in the Algarve and also a favorite spot for sailing.
Explore hidden gems such as Ponta da Piedade and Meia Praia. Relax by the water at Praia Dona Ana and Praia dos Tres Irmaos. Get out of town with these interesting Portimao side-trips: Praia dos Salgados (in Gale), Armacao de Pera (Aurora Boat Trips & Pescadores Beach) and Lagos (Praia do Camilo & Praia do Canavial).
