Unofficially the country's summer capital, the city of Taif lies amid a richly fertile agricultural area and boasts a history reaching back to at least the 6th century CE. At 1,700 m (5,577 mi) above sea level, Taif enjoys a pleasant, dry climate, and its many green spaces ensure a family-friendly atmosphere.

On the 17th (Thu), take an in-depth tour of Shubra Palace, then walk around Al Rudaf Park, and then meet the residents at Taif Zoo. Keep things going the next day: stroll around Al-Anoud Park, then take in the awesome beauty at Shafa Mountains, then browse the different shops at Jouri Mall, and finally look for gifts at Taif's Heart Mall.

Dammam to Taif is an approximately 4-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and bus. Expect little chillier temperatures when traveling from Dammam in September; daily highs in Taif reach 41°C and lows reach 25°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 19th (Sat) early enough to catch the flight to Abha.

Poised in the mountains in southwest Saudi Arabia, Abha provides respite and escape to domestic tourists as well as travelers from other Gulf countries and beyond.

Spend the 20th (Sun) exploring nature at Asir National Park. Spend the 21st (Mon) exploring nature at Green Mountains. There's still lots to do: make a trip to Cable Car, contemplate the waterfront views at Abha Dam Lake, and walk around High City.

Traveling by flight from Taif to Abha takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Taif in September, things will get slightly colder in Abha: highs are around 34°C and lows about 20°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 21st (Mon) so you can catch the flight back home.
