History Museum · Hidden Gem · Museum
Known primarily for its giant painting depicting the Conquest of Constantinople, Panorama 1453 presents history in 360 degrees. Established in 2009, the history museum houses a world-famous panoramic portrayal of the 1453 battle that effectively put an end to the Roman Empire. The huge painting presents the moment when the invading Ottoman troops broke through the city's Byzantine defenses. The realistic image measures 38 m (125 ft) in diameter and covers an area of about 2,300 sq m (25,000 sq ft). An accompanying soundtrack enhances the viewing experience by recreating battle cries and cannon blasts. • Doesn't take the museum card. It's not really near anything so you might need to Uber there. Total tour is about an hour. Read the wikipedia page on the seige of Constantinople beforehand as the...  more »
  • Was bit disappointed, lift to the top and a painted ceiling with some battle scenes. Cheap to go in 20TL each and 10tl for headset  more »
  • A lot of work went into this museum and it is evident as soon as you enter the panorama room. An excellent recreation of history. Detailed information is provided on each of the wall panels in Turkish, with English translations beneath them. Audio guides are also available at entry. The gift shop has nice souvenirs, books and gifts.
  • Panorama reflects a great deal about the ottoman empire and reveals lots of secrets on how 'things' used to be back in those days. It also gives an insight on the continuous and on going clash of civilizations. The place is well equiped, the heritage is clearly defined. make sure to understand all the small details. There is a beautiful park outside where one can still see the wall which the battle took place over. Totally worth it. For family and friends.
