The 18 km (11 mi) long beach reaches a width of 300 m (100 ft) in some places, making it one of the largest in Turkey. Sea turtles often lay their eggs in this protected area. Amenities, even if somewhat basic, include cafes, showers, and restrooms. The depth of the water increases gradually, making it a popular swimming spot for visitors of all levels, as well as kids. Avoid the area when the wind picks up, however, as the beach can be exposed to large waves, and swimming can become dangerous.     Patara beach is stunning, for a walk, sunbath, but sundowners on the dunes with friends is highly recommended. Take the road through the village up to the dunes car park.

    I was really looking forward to staying in Patara village and swimming at the beach based on the photos & comments of others but... no one had mentioned that it costs darn $$$ to get to the beach...

    Very clean beach. You need to pay 50 TL for two sunbed and 1 umbrella.
