National Memorial Arboretum stands as scenic commemoration to fallen British servicemen and women. You'll find nearly 300 different memorials and more than 50,000 trees here. Start your visit at the Armed Forces Memorial, which remembers the 16,000 military personnel who lost their lives in battle or acts of terror since World War II. On November 11th at 11 a.m., the memorial uses the sun's position to shine a shaft of light on the wreath it contains. Among the other memorials here are ones to Jewish servicemen and women, the Berlin Airlift, and the 306 British and Commonwealth soldiers shot for leaving the lines during World War I. A remembrance ceremony takes place daily in the Millennium Chapel of Peace and Forgiveness at 11 a.m. Before you visit Alrewas, use our trip planner to discover what you can do and see there.

  • What a brilliant place to visit. You'll need plenty of time to see it all. The memorials are magnificent and very touching. Good cafe and restaurant...gift shop stocks quality items at reasonable prices. Staff very knowledgeable and approachable. Recommended that you carry water with you especially on a hot day as there are no water points on the area once you leave the visitor centre. Good parking and disabled facilities. A great day out and well worth a visit.
  • Difficult to describe my feelings after visiting this wonderful memorial to our Armed Forces. Peaceful.... Sad......comforting. Fantastic Sculptures and Beautiful kept Gardens. A place you must visit. Allow plenty of time to fully appreciate the Memorials.
