Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King Liverpool
Seat of the Archbishop of Liverpool, Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King Liverpool is also known as "Paddy's Wigwam" or the "Mersey Funnel." The construction of the modern building took from 1962 to 1967. Visit the bright nave and cathedral for a service or simply pop in to admire Frederick Gibberd's design. Include the crypt under the cathedral in your tour; a different designer prior to World War II constructed it earlier. This sheltered granite hideaway hosts the Liverpool Beer Festival every year, which attracts visitors from the around the world. Our Liverpool trip planner makes visiting Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King Liverpool and other Liverpool attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

I could see the metropolitan from my hotel and had to go see for myself, affectionately know as Paddy's Wigwam. This place is really a one of a kind, you will never see another like it. The outside is big but when you walk in to the main area the architecture and roof ate stunning and massive. There's loads to see and great photo opportunities inside and out. I highly recommend this attraction. You won't be disappointed.

Most definitely worth visiting. Beautiful interior design and numerous alcoves with varying artistic works - wood carvings, tapestries, paintings - extensive glassworks, and informative explanatory panels. Up there with the Cathedral in Los Angeles for moving and thoughtful design and art.
