Pitt Rivers Museum, Oxford

Wonderful museum. Their catalog has items from all over the world. Each piece tells a story about a time, culture and people. Moreover, they do acknowledge the colonial and imperial history of the museum. Some artifacts were collected against the will of the indigenous people and draconian means were used. They also sell some good souvenirs.

This place is where the weird and wonderful go to take rest!! The most interesting artifacts I think I've ever seen inside a museum. The space itself is really awesome, I felt like I was in a movie and Indiana Jones may pop out from behind a cabinet at any moment. Really take your time in here. Look in and around things as there is so much to see. I especially liked the different masks, being a horror movie buff you can see where inspiration has come from in these sometimes unsettling masks. One could easily spend all day in there so leave plenty of time for your visit.
