Wander among different planting areas, including a fern garden, a butterfly border, and an American prairie border, and spot lime, holly, beech, and oak trees, among others. Stop to admire the corner of the Roman fortress that dates to the 3rd or 4th century, and the remains of the walls and nave of the 11th-century St. Mary's Abbey.     Definitely worth a stroll through if you're in the area. The squirrels are entertainment on their own. There's seating that's comfortable, ancient buildings, pretty flower beds and views of the river....  more »

    Beautifully set out and looked after gardens. Great assortment of flowers and information. Some great back drops of the old abbey. Assorted vendors of coffee and ice cream. Some attractions also on at different times throughout the year. Plenty of places to sit down

    Fantastic area to chill and relax. The scenery is great with all the flowers and plants, and there's a large animal life scene for those interested! They are pretty shameless and hard to scare off so good for photography! Also worth mentioning the owl handlers that are there most every day! A great experience for a more than reasonable price.
