Letchworth State Park is a 14,427-acre (5,838 ha) New York State Park located in Livingston County and Wyoming County in the western part of the State of New York. The park is roughly 17 miles (27 km) long, following the course of the Genesee River as it flows north through a deep gorge and over several large waterfalls. It is located 35 miles (56 km) southwest of Rochester and 60 miles (97 km) southeast of Buffalo, and spans portions of the Livingston County towns of Leicester, Mount Morris and Portage, as well as the Wyoming County towns of Castile and Genesee Falls.Ask Inspirock to suggest an itinerary and make planning a trip to Castile fast, fun, and easy.
In 1859, Buffalo industrialist William Pryor Letchworth (1823–1910) began purchasing land near the Middle Falls, and started construction of his Glen Iris Estate. In 1906 he bequeathed the 1,000-acre (4 km2) estate to New York, which soon after became the core of the newly-created Letchworth State Park. The park prominently features three large waterfalls – the Upper, Middle, and Lower Falls – on the Genesee River, which flows within a deep gorge that winds through the park. The rock walls of the gorge, which rise up to 550 feet (170 m) in places, prompted the area's reputation as the "Grand Canyon of the East".

Went as part of a New York State park trip in May. Upper/Middle Falls views - both can be seen easily from the Middle Falls parking lot, you can position the car in that parking lot to walk less...

This was our first visit to the park; we met folks who had been there annually for decades. We can see why people would want to go there more than once! It's very beautiful. We only had two...

Awesome park. The long hike (14 miles round trip) is mostly shaded and pretty easy footing wise. There is a lot of elevation change, our electronics said 142 flights of stairs. There a plenty of stops along the way for views and resting. I recommend starting at Tea Top so it's less uphill on the way back. Camping site was great and we had plenty of space. The bath house was clean and the showers were hot. Everyone seemed to keep quiet during the quiet hours which lead to great sleeping.

Love this state Park as it has amazing views and waterfalls. I had a great time taking the family there as it is an easy part to get through. If you want to do the white water rafting you must book it well in advance as it sold out five days before my trip. Not sure why the rafting company is limited in it's trips. There is a large pool for summertime swimming. The Glen Iris Inn had a great reasonable meal for the quality and volume of food you are getting. The museums and Indian council house and Mary Jamison house was really cool.
