Create an itinerary including La Jolla Cove
Famous for its tide pools and sea lions, La Jolla Cove features a tiny beach surrounded by sandstone cliffs. Part of a protected reserve known for its rich marine life, this stretch of coastline counts among one of the most photographed sites in San Diego. You can swim, snorkel, or scuba dive here, taking advantage of the calm waters that provide an ecologically safe home for orange Garibaldi fish and several species of marine invertebrates. In order to protect all animals inside this area, lifeguards strictly enforce the rules forbidding surfboards, kayaks, boogie boards, and inflatable mattresses within the cove. • La Jolla Cove is an amazing place to experience both seals and sea lions! They are absolutely beautiful to see in person and the beach around them is absolutely picturesque. The area surrounding the cove is awesome with bars, restaurants, museums, etc. so you can definitely make a day of coming down to the area. I don't shoot a lot of wildlife photos, but I definitely loved shooting the wildlife down at the cove. A word of warning though, the smell from the poop can be overbearing at times so if you have an uneasy stomach just beware. There's lots of areas to swim, dive, and kayak in La Jolla too so after going to the cove you can make time for some adventures!
  • Amazing time spend at this beauty beach! Watching the sea lions and seals, sea gulls was amazing experience in itself! Beautiful stores and many healthy restaurants nearby to choose from.... hustling and bustling with people everywhere... a must visit when in San Diego!
