Kahekili Beach Park, Lahaina

The ultimate jewel in Maui for families. Lovely beach, best to come in morning when wind is low. There is free parking, restrooms and showers. The beach is lovely, there's a 4 foot sandy slope down to the water line. There's a beautiful reef with lots of fish and coral 10 feet from the waterline in waist deep water - excellent snorkeling, great place for kids to learn and practice snorkeling. In the right season one can see whales from the beach.

Snorkeling here was AMAZING! All kinds of Butterfly fish and reef fish. The farther away from black rock beach is the better snorkeling. We walked about 1/10th of a mile (North) to the beach entrance from the main pavilion and saw octopus and sea turtles too. The sunsets are magical at this beach. If you’re using fins - recommended - sit down once it starts dropping off in the water to put them on. The Coral here is just amazing to view let alone all the reef fish you’ll see. Highly recommend for snorkeling.
