Admire the high marble arches and elegant pillars of one of New York City’s most iconic landmarks, New York Public Library. Situated in midtown Manhattan, the Beaux Arts structure serves as the flagship building of the New York Public Library system, containing a collection of over 6 million books. Take in the impressive carved ceiling, grand chandeliers, and ornate detailing of the famous Rose Main Reading Room, or take a seat outside and examine the building’s beautiful facade of carved marble. Stop by the library store to peruse the selection of antique books and library souvenirs. With our world travel planner, New York City attractions like New York Public Library can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

This is a place you just have to see! It is beautiful. The gift shop is a real treasure as well! Don't miss out on this and then go enjoy an iced coffee at Bryant Park!

Beautiful building. Staff was super friendly. Cute gift shop. They definitely don't make buildings like this anymore. We were just at the right time to see a woman be proposed to on the stairs! Very adorable! If you lovebirds ever see this review...I wish you a happy life together!!!

NY and Boston public libraries are my most favorite in the Northeast. The interior is simply alluring with elegant rococo ornaments. Makes you feel special just being there. The library frequently hosts free collections. The last one I went to was about memento. Do you know Lolita author Nabokov was a professional butterfly researcher? Dare to say he knows more about butterfly anatomy than men's minds.
