Crissy Field, San Francisco

#7 of 73 in Parks in San Francisco
Enjoy the outdoors under a spectacular view of the Golden Gate Bridge at Crissy Field. Known as the Presidio’s front door, the former air base-turned-into-a-park is a favorite recreational area for both locals and visitors. The area is clean, safe, and well maintained and is particularly popular with cyclists and joggers. If you want to relax, you can enjoy the sandy beach or go for a picnic. The kids enjoy wide-open areas to play, while the pet owners can take their dogs off the leash and let them splash in the surf. Bring sunglasses and layered clothes, because the San Francisco weather can be chilly and windy, even in the summer months.   Using our world travel planner, San Francisco attractions like Crissy Field can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • We kind of stumbled upon Crissy Field in our quest to get a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge. This was one of the coolest stops during our SF visit! We started with a great lunch at the Warming Hu...  more »
  • We parked here and walked into the city. The views from the beach are stunning of the Golden Gate bridge as well as Alcatraz island. Lots of runners and cyclists on the trails just before the beach.  more »

  • Great walking and biking paths with beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge (assuming it's not foggy when you go). Also nice view of the San Francisco skyline. We only briefly explored and barely touched the surface. Excited to go back! Parking wasn't terribly expensive either... $1-2/hour vs Fisherman's Wharf which was $15/hour.
  • Very nice, massive swath of lawn for running, playing around, and getting excellent views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Area! Plus, the whale art piece is just dazzling, I loved it since my eyes fell upon it :)
